The Columbia University Middle East Research Center hosts a range of conferences, workshops, lecture series, film screenings, and other scholarly and cultural events. The first in this series was the Center's launch, held under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah on March 22, 2009. The event brought esteemed international scholars, regional dignitaries, and executives to Amman and established a precedent for the type of academic collaboration and dialogue the Center will foster.
